Many of us have had the experience of starting a blog, full of ideas to write about – only to find our time and energy dry up. To counteract this feeling, a few years ago, a handful of librarians in Australia decided to get together and start a daily blogging challenge for the month of June. Known as ‘Blog every day in June’, or #blogjune on twitter, participants take on the task of writing and publishing a blog post every day for the entire month. The challenge has grown each year and there are now lists of the blogs that participated in 2013, 2014 and 2015.
This is by no means an Australian thing any more – bloggers participate from all around the world and it’s never too late to sign up and have your name added to the list of challenge takers!
#blogjune is also a great opportunity for the readers amongst us, as it is a great opportunity to find new blogs to follow. We really encourage you to seek our a new blog or two and read some of the wonderful posts that have been published this June and leave some comments too.
Those of us who have participated in the past can tell you it’s lovely to have both readers and comments, particularly towards the end of the 30 days when it can be hard to keep finding new ideas and it’s not clear how you’re going to get to the end! At those times, knowing you have interested readers can be just the inspiration needed to keep writing.
