Books, glorious books: Achala Munigal

Desert Island is not so bad. By Senia L via flickr CCHere to answer the 3 book questions posed in our discussion topic for this fortnight is our India Country Coordinator, Achala Munigal:

1. Do you belong to a book community such as GoodReads or Library Thing? Or do you belong to a book club?

GoodReads: I do not belong to formal book club but do exchange a lot of novels with family and friends.

2.  What 3 books would you take with you to a desert island and why?

1. Bhagavad Gita – It is not a religious book but a sacred book of the Hindus in Sanskrit language. It is philosophical in nature which clarifies the concept of Dharma, Gnana,Liberation etc. Numerous commentaries and interpretations are available of Gita in many languages. I will read a commentary in English.
2. Jokes book – To enjoy as a respite in between all the serious study on Bhagavad Gita and the resultant introspection.
3. A book how to survive in the desert island!

3.       Print or e? Why/Why not?

On a desert island, definitely print! E-reader can run out of battery, so will not be able to re-read.

I like both options depending on if Im travelling and also on availability of e-version of the book I want to read.
