Applications are now open for the next round of the ILN peer mentoring program and we continue to be amazed by the response so far. IAt the time of writing, we’ve already received over 320 applications from 46 countries across 5 continents!
If you are new to the ILN, here’s a bit about us:
The International Librarians Network (ILN) peer mentoring program is a facilitated program aimed at helping librarians develop international networks. We believe that innovation and inspiration can cross borders, and that spreading our networks beyond our home countries can make us better at what we do.
Participants in the program are matched with others outside their country, based on the information they provide to the program coordinators. Partnerships are made for a fixed term, and during this period the partnerships are supported by regular contact and discussion points led by the program coordinators. Supported partnerships have an end date, however it is our vision that participants would develop a widening network of ongoing, independent professional relationships.
The International Librarians Network is run by volunteers all around the world. Program coordinators match participants, support the partnerships, and manage the website. Country coordinators act as in-country contacts and support for participants, and promote the program within their country.Program participants share their experiences, opinions and ideas to create an international network of librarians.
While ILN enjoys the support of many esteemed professional and commercial bodies worldwide, it is run independently.
Sound good? The next round of the program will commence in March 2014.
The ILN is open to anyone in the library and information industry around the world. The program remains free and the only requirements to participate are an Internet connection, fluent English skills, an hour each week and a desire to build professional connections and learn from colleagues.
